It lasted a mere six days with the rebels: The Fianna boys, the Irish Citizen Army, the Irish Volunteers, and Cumann na mBan women surrendering unconditionally to the British on Saturday April 29th. They left the city of Dublin in rubble. WebWell in many cases yes they could. In some cases radical church clerics were in favour of violent action. They may have well done so but were on very shaky theological ground. However it shouldn't be forgotten that the Rising encompassed a "wide church" politically speaking from socialist, to social democratic, to nationalist.
